The growth process of Ganoderma lucidum is divided into fruiting period, pileus-opening period, growth period, maturity period and spore-releasing period. Ganoderma lucidum has different forms and medicinal effects in each stage.

When all the light yellow on the edge of the pileus fades, the pileus will completely turn dark brown. At this time, Ganoderma lucidum has entered the mature stage. 

Mature Ganoderma lucidum releases spores from the bottom of its pileus. With a diameter of only 5-8 microns, which is approximately 1/10th the diameter of a human hair, these spores are difficult to see with the naked eye.
