In a landmark event for the global Ganoderma industry, Pucheng County has been unanimously recognized as the “Origin of Chinese Log-Grown Ganoderma Cultivation” following an official expert assessment led by the Fujian Edible Fungi Association on August 19.
The delegation, consisting of top Chinese Ganoderma specialists, conducted a thorough field investigation into Pucheng’s cultivation history, technical heritage, and industrial development. They were accompanied by representatives from multiple government bodies including the Pucheng County Government Office, Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, and Forestry Bureau, alongside local enterprises and farmers.
During the site visit to Yanbu Village and Dongyuan Village in Guancuo Township, experts examined the ecological environment and cultivation practices firsthand. They particularly praised the region’s commitment to wild-simulated organic methods that respect Ganoderma’s natural growth patterns.
“Each of our GanoHerb bases operates at least 2 kilometers from human settlements,” stated Liu Guohui, Base Department Manager at GanoHerb, a leading organic Ganoderma brand. “We use approximately 10 kg of log wood to cultivate just one premium Ganoderma mushroom, strictly prohibiting pesticides, 肥料, and GMO technologies while maintaining pharmaceutical-grade organic standards throughout the process.”
The appraisal meeting featured a comprehensive review of historical documents, local records, and material evidence. After rigorous discussion, the expert panel confirmed Pucheng County’s significant historical and cultural value in Ganoderma cultivation, noting its complete technical inheritance and robust industrial foundation since its beginnings in 1988.

The company’s cultivation bases were among the first in Fujian to pass China’s stringent Good Agricultural Practices (ギャップ) certification for traditional Chinese medicinal materials.
The final evaluation results will be formally announced after further deliberation, potentially reshaping the global Ganoderma market and highlighting Pucheng’s role in sustainable, traditional cultivation practices that meet modern international standards.
