Resolution Of Cutaneous Sarcoidosis Following Topical Application Of Ganoderma Lucidum Oct 11, 2018

In February 2016, a report published in Dermatologic Therapy by the Konya Training and Research Hospital in Turkey pointed out that a dermatology patient improved sarcoidosis in the scalp within a week after using a medicated soap containing Ganoderma lucidum. This case allowed us to see the possibility of applying Ganoderma lucidum to skin diseases.

Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease in which the diseased organs develop granulomas. There are many inflammatory cells (including macrophages, and epithelioid cells and multinucleated giant cells derived from macrophages) in the granuloma. A single granuloma is so small that it must be seen under the microscope. When it gets more and more, It will form large and small lumps.

Sarcoidosis can occur anywhere in the body, especially in the lungs and lymphatic system. For one-third of patients with sarcoidosis, the symptoms occur on the skin. Patients usually don't have symptoms in one tissue or organ. The affected part may leave a scar due to ulceration and affect organ function.

Although the pathogenesis of sarcoidosis is not fully understood, the inflammatory response of the immune system is involved, so treatment is usually based on steroids, anti-inflammatory drugs or other immunosuppressive agents. Some people's granulomas may shrink or disappear; some people have granulomas all the time, and the condition is also up and down; some people's affected parts will leave scar tissue and cause permanent organ damage.

A report published by the hospital in Turkey pointed out that a 44-year-old male Sarcoidosis patient used the medicated soap containing Ganoderma lucidum to improve the skin lesions. The patient's scalp has symptoms of sarcoidosis, and the affected part has hair loss. There are several ring-shaped red plaques, which are atrophied in the middle, surrounded by bulges, and the borderline is clear. Tissue biopsy revealed that the lesions were inflamed and granuloma deep in the dermis.

At first he only had symptoms of the skin, and later he was diagnosed with 'bilateral lung hilar lymph gland enlargement', which is a typical symptom of lung infection. After a period of regular treatment, the patient continued to return to the hospital to track the condition. During this period, the patient indicated that Reishi Mushroom seemed to help with sarcoidosis on his scalp:

He applied the medicated soap containing Ganoderma lucidum to the affected part every day. After the bubble was left at the affected part for an hour, it was washed with water. After three days, almost all of the ring-shaped red lumps disappeared (there was still mark, but no redness and swelling). After six months, the lesion of the scalp recurred again. He treated it with Ganoderma lucidum soap according to the same method, and the symptom was relieved within a week.

The patient's personal experience allows us to see alternative applications of Ganoderma lucidum. In the past, many studies have confirmed that Ganoderma lucidum can exert anti-allergic, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, but why does it take effect as a Lingzhi soap? It still needs to be ascertained.
